Get an authorization code for transfers

If you want to transfer your domain to Fused from GoDaddy, you might need an authorization code (also known as EPP codes or transfer keys) to verify that you own the domain name. You can receive this code by email, which GoDaddy will send to the administrative contact listed on your domain name.

If you have a .au domain name, GoDaddy will send the authorization code to the registrant contact's email address as it displays in the WHOIS database.

Before you can receive your authorization code, you must verify your administrative contact information with GoDaddy.

Verify administrative contact

WARNING: You voluntarily agree to a 60-day lock that prevents you from transferring your domain name when you update the Organization field for the registrant contact, or when you update the First Name and Last Name fields for the registrant contact if an organization isn't the legal registrant for your domain name.

How you now access the DNS manager to verify your information will depend on the view of your account.

Card View:

  • Select the appropriate domain, click Text Icon (Settings) and select Domain Settings
  • Verify the information listed under the Contact Information section

List View:

  • Select the appropriate domain
  • Click the Contacts tab and verify the information under the Registrant section listed under "Contact Information"

To receive your authorization code by email

In the GoDaddy Domain Manager, do one of the following, based on your view:

Card View:

  • Select the appropriate domain, click "Text Icon (Settings)" and select "Domain Settings"
  • In the Additional Settings section, click the "Authorization Code" link, and it will automatically be emailed to the administrative contact

List View:

  • Select the appropriate domain
  • On the Settings tab, in the Authorization Code section at the very bottom, click "Email My Code"
  • Click "Send"

Your authorization code will be sent to your GoDaddy administrative contact within 24 hours.

Limitations on new domains

Note that the domain registration being transferred must not be within 60 days of the original purchase or transfer due to ICANN restrictions.

Also note that Authorization Codes are not required for .bz, .cc,.gd, .im, .tc, .tel, .tv, .vg, and .ws extensions.
