Internal server error

The most dreaded error on the web hosting seas...

Just kidding, it's not that bad!

The internal server error and its causes are relatively simple. In fact, there's only a couple of primary issues that can cause it:

  • Permissions: All folders must be chmodded to 755 and all php files to 655 or lower (644 is recommended)
  • .htaccess references to php settings -- php_flag entries from .htaccess files are not supported on our system
If you require php flags you can create a php.ini file and place the statements there.
  • Bad code. The best & quickest solution to finding the source is checking the 'error_log' file in the same folder

So what should you do if you encounter an internal server error and can't find the solution? Contact us, of course!

The majority of the problems are caused by the issues above, but if you're unable to sort it don't hesitate to let Fused Network know. We've run into all sorts of juicy errors in the past and we're able to find the source of most very promptly.
